In this 19th-century supernatural winter epic, a drunken apple salesman must go from zero to hero and become the greatest fur trapper in North America by defeating hundreds of beavers. The film’s estimated budget is around $150,000. Director Mike Cheslick estimated that the mascot costumes cost around $10,000, and the crew purchased all of the costumes online. After Watson the Beaver “faints,” his mustache falls off and vanishes. lands in the snow as he gets up. He wears it again in the next scene, though he walks away without picking it up. Before seeing the film at the Hamburg Fantasy Filmfest, I wondered how an hour and a half of gameplay could be filled with the ideas in the trailer without becoming slow or boring. Now I wonder when was the last time I laughed so hard during an entire movie. While offering a cohesive, intelligent, clean and very effective visual style, the presentation does not let your concentration drift for a second, otherwise you might miss something funny. The way it symbolizes, repeats and develops events through clever iteration in a limited universe is excellent! I highly recommend seeing it. Not for small children.
